Social Bonds
Sweet Life
Delitha knew about her situation early on, as her mother had been aware of her own condition from a young age. This gave Delitha a very beneficial grasp of what was going on with her body. The most important pieces of information were what would give away her condition and what would make people hunt for her.
What was most likely to give away her condition were the parts of her flesh that appeared more like bread. When Sweet Life was first discovered, flesh also took a visual appearance of bread and sometimes with birthmarks resembling frosting. They would still be as durable as flesh, but be a clear give away that something was wrong. Over time hiding it became less difficult as more people were born with normal looking faces then arms and so on. Most modern cases only have the bread appearance on the torso. In Delitha's case, everything from her shoulders down, except for her arms, to a fourth of the way down her thighs have this bread like appearance, with a few scattered patterns that resemble frosting. Her mother only had the visual affect on her chest. This promotes her desire to cover her entire torso whenever possible.
The reason why people do hunt for people with Sweet Life is because of some rare flavor combinations hard to cook or bake. Sweet Life modifies the entire body and gives each different organ its own unique taste, a number of which have been reported to be incredibly difficult to recreate. There are private groups that would pay sums of cash that could keep generations thriving well just to know how to control these tastes. Because of this, no one other than Witilda knows of Delitha's condition and even researching it has been avoided, as to not lead people to consider she has the condition.
Supposedly not everyone will become addicted to the taste of Sweet Life flesh, Delitha's father claiming to be an example, but it is unknown whether that is because of moral awareness or a biological reaction.
