Earlier today, Cobalt had received a rather unexpected phone call from a close friend whom he had lost touch with after high school and after the death of his brother. It was a friend from school- Delitha was her name. Cobalt had been quite surprised to hear from her- especially at four o'clock in the morning.
He didn't seem to mind all that much. He was happy she contacted him more than anything else. He vaguely wondered if her sister was still as protective as ever, but he couldn't find it in him to ask about it. Instead, he offered up a meeting place so they could talk face-to-face, and he was relieved that she agreed.
The only place he could think of to meet was at his work so they could chat during his break. That way, if things became awkward, they both had an out. He didn't anticipate any awkwardness being that they had been quite good friends at school, but conversations can take bad turns at even the smallest subjects.
So, Cobalt went through the day thinking up more small talk topics. Should he mention his boyfriend? Perhaps that's a bit too personal for a first-time-catch-up. Maybe he could just talk about how life has been on his own since graduating and since Bruxel's death. That sounded alright. Well, maybe Delitha would have more good topics to converse about.
The time was drawing closer, and Cobalt was lightly drumming his fingers along the top of the ticket counter. He kept glancing out the various doors, watching people walk by, and he was just waiting for a familiar girl to show up. He really hoped that he'd be able to recognize her; he hadn't seen her in a year! He hoped that she would be able to recognize him, too. He sort of changed a lot since his senior year of high school. He had longer hair and more blemishes back then. Let's just say he cleaned up nicely over the course of the year.
He sighed and rubbed his eyes. What was he thinking about? He ran a hand through his hair and just waited patiently, occasionally glancing at his wristwatch. She should be arriving any moment.
