Unexpected Holiday

That brat! That damn brat! Witilda thought to herself as she panted on a street corner. She had just run out of breath, chasing her sister, Delitha, down streets to catch up with her. Due to recent stress, Delitha had become upset with Witilda's perhaps overbearing behavior. It wasn't her fault, she felt. She didn't trust anyone but herself to protect her sister.
When Witilda caught her breath she looked around. It was late and the streets seemed to be mostly empty. There was no hopes of catching up to her sister, so she did what she always used to do when she had time to herself and didn't want to care: splurge.
Rumor had it that the best food you could get was from Elliot's Diner, or at least that's why Witilda's coworkers told her. It wasn't too far, so Witilda walked her way down the street to the iconic restaurant. They should be open regardless of the holiday. There had to be a few people who were single and had nothing better to do. Maybe even some families that liked to get out to eat instead of eating at home. Never know until you get there.
Perhaps it was more like...a lot of single people, actually. Witilda entered and saw so many people occupying one space alone. It really did seem like there was an obscene amount of people alone on Christmas. Maybe just an obscene amount of alone people in general. That meant finding a seat wasn't going to be easy.
A waitress noticed Witilda looking for a seat and sighed. The waitress turned to the patrons and asked, "Would anyone mind sharing a table or booth?" This shouldn't be unheard of, but people were often unwilling to just offer up personal space. These were people who were alone. Who knows who would be kind enough to a stranger.
